I don't know if Maxtor provides a utility to migrate your data to the new computer but Western Digital does so you might not even have to backup your data first. Usually though starting from the ground up (software wise) is good when you purchase major new hardware like motherboards and processors.

You can get a DVI-to-VGA adapter.

Wow. A video card that has a DVI, but no VGA port? How far we've come.

Surprised

Doesn't the adapter downgrade the DVI signal to VGA?

Terrella, get a DVI to VGA adapter if your video card didn't come with one. Both Geforce cards I recently bought only had DVI on them but they came with adapters.

Seagate's HD tools will do it. Seatools is the one that I think will do it..

My personal recomendation if you just want to transfer over data is with a good disk cloning app - Arconis True Image is wonderful.

That's not a new trend, either.

Somebody would have to pay me damn good money to make me ever pick up a VGA monitor again. DVI is absolutely gorgeous when you have the hardware to support it.
