I'm having severe connection issues with this roadrunner (formerly adelphia) DSL, but it ONLY happens on Argent Dawn. Any ideas?

Are you on a wireless router with more than one person connected at the same time?

No, I'm connected directly to the cable modems.

well, that's your problem then. you are connected to more than one modem.

My suggestion - get a freeware program called "PingPlotter" and run that in the background while you play, while having it trace to AD. It might give you an idea of where the problem is.

I'm getting pretty high packet loss on the last couple hops (20%), all on AT&T servers - hooray

That's less than cool. Does the packet loss start on an AT&T server directly after some other network? That'd suggest gateway problems between AT&T and whatever network gets you there. I'd think that if it was a problem internal to AT&Ts network the problem would be more widespread.

Yeah, actually it's coming out of 4.78.61.5 and I'm getting problems from that too

Level 3, that's not a huge surprise - they've had issues lately.
I wonder where the node itself actually is, the address given by the WHOIS is Level3's main office. If it's in one of the areas STILL under the effect of the massive power outages (Kansas) it's probably being forced to handle more traffic than it can safely handle.

You're not the only one having problems Petey - though my big issues haven't been with level3, it's been with AT&T's network - I get about 6 hops into AT&T's nightmare network, and hit 100% packet loss at the same point.

And about 10-33% packet loss at higher levels of their network. :/

There's an 18 page thread about people on Adelphia internet (though they're now absorbed into Time Warner) having connection problems. Blizz said the problem was fixed a month ago but none of my friends here can run this thing on AD

That 100% packet loss in intentional. That's the point that you enter into Blizzard's network, and it rejects ICMP traffic (pings and traceroutes).

Which makes perfect sense - except today, doing the same traceroute - I get deeper into AT&T before it times out this time. With this one, I can only assume I'm hitting the WoW server and it's timing out - but yesterday, when I was getting disconnected, or partially disconnected, every 5-10 minutes, it didn't make it this far. razz
